Inventory that keeps itself current
Keep each part with its part number, name, brand, category, supplier, shelf location, unit, cost, price and core charge. Set a reorder point and MapleFix flags the part when stock gets that low, with a low-stock filter to build your next order. Stock comes off when the invoice is issued, and every manual adjustment needs a reason, so you can see later why the count changed. Mechanics can find a part by scanning its barcode with the phone app, and they see selling prices only, never your cost.
Returns to the supplier
Wrong part, extra part, customer changed their mind: a supplier return goes from Set aside to Sent back, then Credited or Refused. Nothing sits on the "to go back" shelf for months without someone noticing.

Warranty claims
A part that failed under warranty is tracked from Set aside to Sent back, then Replaced, Credited or Denied, with a printed warranty claim to send along with it.
Cores you never lose track of
Core deposits are easy money to lose. When an invoice with a core-charge part goes out, MapleFix makes a core return for each unit, starting at "Old part not collected yet". From there it moves to On the core shelf, Sent back, and Credited or Refused. Cores are due back within 30 days by default, and any that are late are marked Overdue so you can chase them.
Money decisions stay with the owner
Mechanics can set parts aside and send them back, but only the owner marks a return credited, refused or denied. A supplier's credit lowers your parts cost and the HST you claimed, in your books and on your GST/HST return, so they stay right.
Paperwork for the driver
Print a pickup sheet for the parts store's driver, plus return slips and core slips. Returns are numbered RT-2026-0001 and so on. When a customer brings something back to you, a credit note handles their refund under Returns, "From customers".
