FAQ
Questions and answers
What shop owners ask us most about MapleFix: who it's for, where the data lives, the phone app, taxes and getting started. Something missing? Ask us in your request.
Who is MapleFix for?
Independent auto repair shops in Canada, from a one-bay garage to a busy shop with a dozen technicians. It's built around how a repair shop actually works: work orders, inspections with photos, customer approvals, tires and parts, and the books behind them. Today its tax and payroll are made for Ontario: HST at 13% and Ontario payroll tables.
My shop isn't in Ontario. Can I use MapleFix?
MapleFix calculates Ontario HST at 13% and its payroll follows Ontario's tables, so it fits Ontario shops best today. If your shop is in another province, request access and tell us where you are: we'll tell you honestly what works for you now and what doesn't yet.
How do I get an account?
Request access with a few details about your shop. A real person reviews every request and emails you within one business day. Once you're approved, you get an email to set your password, then you add your team and start your first job.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a free trial, and you don't need a credit card to start. The pricing page shows how long it lasts and what each plan costs.
How is MapleFix priced?
By the size of your team: each plan has a monthly price in Canadian dollars and a number of staff it includes, and every plan has every feature. See the pricing page. When your trial ends we arrange payment with you directly; MapleFix doesn't take card payments online yet.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. If your team grows past your plan's number of staff, move up to a bigger plan; if it gets smaller, move down. Just ask us.
Where is my data stored?
On MapleFix's servers in Toronto, Canada. Each shop's data is kept in its own separate part of the database, everything travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and the whole system is backed up every night. A few things reach outside services only when you use them: decoding a VIN asks the US government's NHTSA vehicle database (just the VIN, nothing about your customer), emails go out through your own email provider, and reading receipts with AI only happens if you add your own Claude key.
Can my mechanics use it on their phones?
Yes. The Android app gives every mechanic their jobs, the inspection with photos and video, check-in and scanning. Each person unlocks a shared phone with their own PIN, and mechanics never see costs, profit or the books. The iPhone app is coming soon.
Do I need to install anything on the shop computer?
No. MapleFix runs in a web browser such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, on any computer or tablet with an internet connection. You sign in once on each device; after that, a PIN unlocks it.
Does MapleFix file my GST/HST return?
It works out every line of the return from your own invoices, bills and receipts, and locks the period once you mark it filed. You copy the lines into CRA My Business Account or GST/HST NETFILE yourself; MapleFix doesn't send anything to CRA. See GST/HST return.
Can my customers pay online?
Not yet. MapleFix records the payments you take, by e-Transfer, debit, credit card, cash, cheque or any other way, and your invoices can show your e-Transfer details under "How to pay".
Do my customers need an app to approve repairs?
No. They get a private link by text, WhatsApp or email and open it in their phone's browser. They see the photos, videos and prices, approve or decline each repair, and the answer goes straight onto the job. See customer approval online.
Can I bring my data from another program?
If you're moving from Maple Shop Pro, the desktop app, its "Export all data" file imports straight into MapleFix. If you use something else, tell us what in your request and we'll tell you what can come across.
Can I get my data out?
Always. Settings → Data downloads everything as one file, with every photo and attachment, and invoices, payments and reports export to spreadsheets. Even if your account is ever suspended or cancelled, the owner can still sign in to download the shop's data.
Is MapleFix in French?
Not yet; MapleFix is in English today. It does accept amounts typed with a comma (45,50) and reads bank statements with French month names.
How do you keep my shop's data safe?
Every connection is encrypted, passwords are stored only as a one-way scramble, and each device signs in with its own session that the owner can see and sign out remotely. A PIN unlocks the app for each person and it locks itself when left idle. Mechanics only see what their job needs, never costs, payroll or the books. Your shop's data sits in its own separate part of the database, and the system is backed up every night.
Ready to run a tidier shop?
Request access and we will review it and email you within one business day. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial.
